This is an estimate from the published ranges on this page, not a quote, since the exact price within a construction’s range depends on materials, and we confirm the real number on your free design proof before you pay anything.

Construction prices are estimated from the low end of the published range for your selected style. Exact placement inside that range depends on wool weight, hide grade, and lining, and is confirmed on your free design proof. Size surcharges, add-ons, and pattern modifications shown here are exact, from the published tables on this page.

Adult Letterman Jacket Prices

Four constructions, priced by how the jacket is built. Where you land inside a range depends on materials and construction, never on how much decoration you add. Decoration is priced separately, further down this page, so you can see exactly what you are paying for.

Style Price Includes What moves the price within the range
Fleece and Satin / Lightweight $100 to $130 Front chest script or letter Color count, standard vs custom lining, knit trim customization
Premium Wool and Real Cowhide, Standard $220 to $300 Front chest chenille patch Top-grain hide grade, wool weight, lining choice
Premium Wool and Real Cowhide, Elite $300 to $400 Full-grain hide, custom printed or embroidered lining, interior pocket, custom-cut pattern

A note on the sleeves. The $150 to $220 tier uses faux leather, also called vinyl. It is not hide. It costs less, it needs no break-in, and it will not develop a patina. Only the two Premium Wool and Real Cowhide tiers use real leather. Plenty of sellers in this category leave that word out. We do not.

The Melton wool tier is the one most buyers pick. It gives you the classic wool body and the contrast sleeve at roughly half the price of real hide, which leaves budget for patches. Compare the constructions in detail on wool varsity jackets.

Youth Letterman Jacket Prices

Youth jackets are priced on their own scale, not discounted off the adult price at checkout. Three constructions cover six sizes running from toddler 2T through age 16.

Fleece and Satin / Lightweight

$70 to $95

Melton Wool and Faux Leather

$110 to $160

Premium Wool and Real Cowhide

$160 to $220

1

The front chenille letter is included in youth prices exactly as it is in adult prices. Every decoration add-on and every pattern modification on this page costs the same on a youth jacket as on an adult one, because setup and stitching time do not change with jacket size. Group discounts apply to youth orders on the same terms.

2

No youth size carries a size surcharge at any size.

3

There is no Elite cowhide tier in youth. A child measuring above Youth XL is sized from the adult chart starting at XS, and prices from the adult table above.

Custom Letter Sweater Prices

The same chenille work goes on knitwear. Every sweater price includes the front chenille letter, on the same terms as the jackets.

Price within each range comes from the yarn, acrylic or Merino, and from striping, pockets, and custom knit-in colors. Full details on custom letter sweaters.

Standard Pullover $70 to $100
Classic 5-Button Cardigan $100 to $150
Premium Shawl Collar $120 to $170

What Is Included at No Charge

Five things other sellers charge for, or quote separately, or hold behind a form. All five are included in every price above.

✓

The front chenille letter or script.

Included in every jacket and every sweater, adult and youth. This is the piece that defines the garment, which is why it is in the base price rather than sold back to you as an add-on.

✓

A free digital design proof, before payment.

We send a mockup of your actual jacket before you pay anything. Revisions are unlimited on orders under 10 pieces. Nothing goes into production until you approve what you see.

✓

A physical sample on orders of 10 or more.

We make a real jacket first and credit its cost against the full order. On a team or school order, nobody is approving 40 jackets from a picture on a screen.

✓

Custom body and sleeve length, on every order.

Not an upgrade, not a minimum quantity, not an added fee. A stock size is a compromise between two different bodies. Two buyers with a 41 inch chest and different arm lengths both get sent the same Large, and one of them ends up with cuffs past the knuckles. Send us your measurements and we cut to them. Chest and shoulder follow the size chart, because those are pattern dimensions.

✓

Pantone color matching.

No lab-dip fee, no sourcing fee. On fleece we can match a color on a single jacket, because the color is printed into the fabric. On wool and real leather we need five jackets in that color, because the factory has to run a dye vat to hit the shade. That minimum is a physical constraint of dyeing wool, not a pricing tactic.

Decoration Add-Ons

Everything beyond the included front letter is priced per item. Adult and youth pay the same.

Item Price
Name embroidery, chest or sleeve $15
Additional chenille sleeve patch, number or grad year $15 to $25 each
Additional chest patch beyond the included one $15 to $25
Back design, text only, school name or word or year in an arc $35
Back design, mascot or logo, up to 3 colors $55
Back design, full custom illustration or 4 or more colors $75

Back design pricing steps up with color count because each color is a separate production step, whether the design is stitched or printed. A three-color mascot is three passes. A single-color arc of text across the shoulders is one.

Most orders use two or three items from this table. A first name, a grad year on the sleeve, and a school name across the back is the common combination, and it is the one priced out in the worked example below. Browse the options on letterman jacket patches.

Pattern Modifications

Every jacket is cut and sewn to order, so the construction itself is a choice. These are pattern changes rather than decoration, priced on top of the base jacket. Adult and youth pay the same.

Modification Price What it covers
Hood, standard +$25 Matching fleece or Melton wool, standard lining
Hood, premium +$45 Split-zip, or real cowhide, or custom printed lining
Raglan sleeve, standard +$15 Fleece, satin, or faux leather sleeves
Raglan sleeve, cowhide +$25 Real leather
Zippered front +$12 YKK #5 metal, brass, nickel, or gunmetal
Shirt collar +$15 Folded Byron collar replacing the knit collar
Cropped fit +$10 Shortened body length

Two of these prices split by material, and the reason is worth stating. A raglan sleeve runs in one piece from the cuff to the neckline instead of joining at a shoulder seam, so it has to be cut from a larger single panel. On fleece or vinyl that costs almost nothing. On real cowhide it means cutting a bigger piece out of a hide, which is why it is $25 rather than $15.

Hoods are available on fleece, wool, and leather-sleeve jackets, including the faux leather tier. They are not available on satin, which is too light to hold the shape of a hood.

Pick your colors and cut on design your own letterman jacket.

Size Surcharges

Extended sizes cost more because they use more material. The figures are published here rather than added at the end, and there is no checkout for them to appear in.

Size Surcharge
Adult XS to XL None
Adult 2XL and 3XL +$15
Adult 4XL and 5XL +$25
Adult 6XL +$30
Adult 7XL +$35
Tall, LT, XLT, and 2XLT +$15
All youth sizes None

Adult sizing runs XS through 7XL. Tall sizes carry the same chest and shoulder as L, XL, and 2XL, and add 2 inches to body length and sleeve length. The tall surcharge covers that extra material, not a different pattern.

Custom body and sleeve length is still free at every size, including the extended ones. The surcharge is for the material a larger pattern uses, not for cutting it to your measurements.

Full measurements by size, adult and youth, in inches and centimeters, are on the letterman jacket size chart.

A Worked Example, With the Real Math

Finished custom letterman jacket with back design, sleeve patch, and chest lettering, placeholder image

A typical varsity order.

Premium Wool and Real Cowhide jacket $260
Front chest chenille patch Included
School name across the back, text only $35
Grad year on the sleeve $20
First name on the chest $15
Total $330

That is the whole number. There is no design fee, no setup fee, no artwork charge, no proof fee, and no charge for the front letter. The size on that order is a Large, so no size surcharge applies. In a 3XL the same jacket totals $345.

A youth order.

Youth Melton Wool and Faux Leather jacket $130
Front chenille letter Included
First name on the chest $15
Total $145

No size surcharge at any youth size, so $145 is the number whether the child wears a Youth Small or a Youth XL.

Standard shipping within the USA is free. Taxes are calculated on your final invoice, or waived for tax-exempt schools. Neither total includes a group discount, which is covered next.

Group, Team, and School Pricing

Discounts are published rather than quoted on a call.

10% 6 to 19 jackets
15% 20 to 49 jackets
20% 50 or more

There is still no minimum order. The discounts start at six jackets, but one jacket goes through the same process, gets the same free proof, and gets the same custom length.

The discount applies to your whole order, not just the jackets. Base jackets, decoration add-ons, and pattern modifications all count toward the discounted subtotal. Shipping is the only thing it does not apply to. A team that adds a back design and a sleeve number to every jacket gets the discount on those too.

Size surcharges apply per jacket. If six jackets in a 30-piece order are 3XL, those six each carry the $15 surcharge and the other 24 do not. Extended sizes are not averaged across the order or waived at volume, because the material cost is real on each one.

Group orders work the same way for schools, sports teams, marching bands, fraternities and sororities, and companies. Every jacket in the order can carry a different name, number, and size while the colors and design stay consistent across the set. Mixed adult and youth sizes count toward the same quantity break.

A worked team order, 20 jackets.

Melton Wool and Faux Leather jacket, $180 each, 20 jackets $3,600
Front chenille letter, every jacket Included
School name across the back, text only, $35 each $700
Grad year on the sleeve, $20 each $400
Size surcharge, two 3XL jackets at $15 each $30
Subtotal $4,730
Group discount at 20 to 49 jackets, 15% -$709.50
Total $4,020.50

That works out to $201.03 per jacket, every one of them with a back design, a sleeve patch, the front letter, and body and sleeve length cut to each student’s measurements. Standard shipping within the USA is free. Taxes are calculated on your final invoice, or waived for tax-exempt schools.

Paying for a group order

Custom Letterman Jackets accepts all major credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, bank transfer and ACH, cash, and checks.

Schools and teams can pay by approved purchase order, and we accept tax-exempt certificates from qualifying organizations. Send the PO or the certificate with your order and we will invoice against it.

We do not offer buy now, pay later financing. There is no Klarna, Affirm, or Afterpay at checkout, and no installment plan.

Lead times on larger orders are on group and bulk orders.

Production Time and Shipping

Two speeds, both stated up front.

Standard

Production 3 to 4 weeks
Fee None

Rush

Production 10 business days
Fee +$35 on a single jacket, +$15 per jacket at 10 or more

Production time starts the day you approve your proof, not the day you submit your design. Domestic transit adds 4 to 5 days on top of either timeline. A standard order runs roughly 4 to 5 weeks from approval to the jacket in your hands. A rush order runs about 3 weeks.

Standard shipping within the United States is free. There is no order minimum to qualify and no separate handling charge. The price you calculate from the tables on this page is the price of the jacket delivered, with tax added on your final invoice or waived if you are a tax-exempt school or organization.

Rush is a production speed, not a shipping method. Every order ships from Los Angeles, rush and standard alike, and we deliver worldwide.

Order early for graduation and for the start of a season. Those are the two stretches of the year when everyone orders at once. International rates and timing are on shipping and delivery.

What Actually Changes the Price

Two things move a letterman jacket price, and keeping them separate is what makes a quote readable.

01

Construction sets the range.

Wool weight, sleeve material, hide grade, and lining decide whether a jacket is a $150 jacket or a $300 jacket. That is what the ranges in the first three tables describe.

02

Decoration is priced per item.

Patches, names, numbers, and back designs each carry their own price from the add-on table. They do not move you into a higher tier, and they are never folded into a vague range.

No item appears in both lists. A jacket does not get more expensive because you added a sleeve patch, it gets more expensive by exactly $15 to $25, and you can see which.

Why some letterman jackets cost $350 and up.

Part of it is real. Full-grain hide and heavy Melton wool cost more than vinyl and fleece, and a keepsake jacket built to last twenty years is a different garment from a lightweight satin one. Part of it is not about the jacket at all. In this category it is normal to be routed through a school-approved registration form, or a sales representative, before a price is ever shown to you. One of the pages currently ranking for letterman jacket pricing is a registration form.

Custom Letterman Jackets publishes every number instead. No form stands between you and a price, there is no minimum order, and the front letter is in the base price rather than added back at the end. Whether you are ordering through a school program or on your own, the numbers on this page are the numbers. More on how school orders work on high school letterman jackets.

Frequently Asked Questions

Pricing

How much does a letterman jacket cost?

Between $100 and $400 for adults and $70 to $220 for youth at Custom Letterman Jackets, depending on materials and construction. A Melton wool body with faux leather sleeves runs $150 to $220. Every price includes the front chenille letter.

Why are letterman jackets so expensive?

Materials and labor. A wool body, a contrast sleeve, ribbed knit trim, and a hand-set chenille patch are four separate components, and a made-to-order jacket is cut and sewn one at a time rather than pulled from stock. Prices climb further when a seller requires a registration form or a sales representative before quoting, or charges for the front letter separately.

How much does a high school letterman jacket cost?

The same $100 to $400 range applies. Most high school orders land in the Melton wool and faux leather tier at $150 to $220, plus a back design and a sleeve patch. A typical complete order totals around $330, itemized above.

What’s included

How much do letterman jacket patches cost?

The front chenille letter is included in every jacket price. Additional patches run $15 to $25 each for a chest or sleeve patch, and back designs run $35 for text only, $55 for a mascot or logo up to three colors, and $75 for a full custom illustration or four or more colors.

What is included in the price?

One front chenille letter or script, all color customization, custom body and sleeve length, a free digital design proof before payment, and Pantone color matching. On orders of 10 or more, a physical sample with its cost credited against the order.

Process

Do you charge for the design proof?

No. The proof is free and comes before payment, with unlimited revisions on orders under 10 pieces. You approve the design before anything is produced and before you pay. Full process on how it works.

What happens if the jacket arrives wrong?

If the jacket does not match the digital proof you approved, or there is a manufacturing fault, we remake it at no cost to you. Because every jacket is cut and sewn to order, we cannot accept returns for buyer errors such as ordering the wrong size or approving a proof with a typo in it. That is why the proof stage matters, and why we do not limit revisions on smaller orders. Check the spelling, the colors, and the size on your proof before you approve it, and ask us anything before you do.
